Motorola Razr promised to get Android 11 and more feature updates, Android 10 rolling out now

Motorola India has announced two Android OS upgrades for the Razr folding flagship. The Razr is currently on sale in India.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Motorola is rolling out the Android 10 update for the Razr in India.

  • The Motorola Razr is also said to be getting the Android 11 update.

  • Motorola has also promised more feature enhancement updates.

The Motorola Razr has gone on sale a week ago and if you have the means to buy it, you should get one. The Razr is one of the few folding phones in India you can buy. It is also a stunning looking phone, with a design that is easily second to none. The specifications may not be cutting edge but Motorola offers a clean Android user experience on it. The Razr launched with Android 9 and as of writing this, the phone is getting the Android 10 update.

However, Motorola is not stopping there. In a recent note to the press, Motorola has announced that the Razr will continue to get software support beyond the Android 10 update. There will be a couple of feature updates and rollout. What’s even better is that Motorola has confirmed Android 11 update for the Razr. The Android 11 update is officially expected to release this September for Google phones.

“In addition to a second OS upgrade, we’ll continue to frequently update & monitor essential applications via the Google Play Store, allowing us to quickly improve the user experience without waiting for an OS upgrade,” says Motorola in its official statement.

Motorola’s foldable Razr gets some new features with its Android 10 update

The second display is more useful now

Motorola is rolling out the Android 10 update for the foldable Razr and adding a host of new features for the external “Quick View” display and some new visual customization options for icons.

The bulk of the changes are in new features for the external display, which can now display Google Maps directions even when the phone is closed, do video calls using the main camera (which is still not great, but is better than the internal one), and respond to text messages with a full keyboard (instead of the canned responses it had previously offered). There are also better music controls and new swiping gestures to quickly access your favorite contacts or the camera.

Also new in the update are better customization options with new themes — a feature Motorola added to its software with the recently released Motorola Edge Plus — that allows for changing the style of icons, fonts, and colors for the Android OS.

Unfortunately, none of these additions can help with the larger issues plaguing the Razr, like the extremely high $1,500 price, the unreliable folding display, concerns about long-term durability, poor camera, or lackluster battery life.
